So what is Slow Food....well it's an international organisation (http://www.slowfood.com) that promotes 'gastronomy and the pleasures of the table in opposition to the fast food way of life'.
In September 2004 Sacla' set off on a month long gastronomic tour of producers accredited by Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity (http://www.slowfoodfoundation.org/) travelling across four countries in a fleet of Fiat Cinquecentos. Celebrated chefs and food writers like Raymond Blanc, Heston Blumenthal, Tom Parker Bowles and Matthew Fort came with us, and all took their turn behind the wheel.
During our month on the road we sampled some truly amazing things from hunchback cardoons and salt pilchards to Genovese focaccia and Gascogne prosciutto. We're still humbled by the passion and dedication of the farmers keeping their special 'art' alive, which is why we are proud to support the Slow Food movement.
